Expression Engine Development and SEO

A little over a month ago I wrote an article titled "Expression Engine has a space here", explaining why I am deliberately spelling the word "ExpressionEngine" incorrectly, on order to reach out to more clients.  Since that time, I have continued to pursue other methods of SEO, and am happy to report a result of my efforts.

Goal Attained

I have reached my goal of being on Google search results page #1 for ExpressionEngine Development.

I am also on page #1 on Google for a search for Expression Engine Development.

Now because Expression Engine has a space just about everywhere on my site, it is impressive that Google's algorhythms still place me in the results page for ExpressionEngine without a space.  However, I clearly have a higher ranking for Expression Engine with a space, than without.  Currently, I am in the following positions:

• #7 for ExpressionEngine Development without a space
• #4 for Expression Engine Development with a space

When doing a quick Keywords analysis, the terms ExpressionEngine without a space still lags in searches.  Almost double the amount of people are searching for "Expression Engine Development" vs. "ExpressionEngine Development":

Conclusion

I understand that most people reading this will not be concerned about ranking high for Expression Engine Development.  However, the principles that I've learned here are applicable to anyone who want to improve their search engine rankings.  Careful analysis using the right tools, and formulating a specific plan are the key ingredients to any successful SEO campaign.  I used to pay around $100/mo for Adwords campaigns just to be visible on the first page of Google search results for my chosen keywords, now I have dropped the campaign because I am acheiving that goal now for free.
