Use These F-Words to get Attention

Posted on 4 October 2010 | by Christina Quist

A half a billion people use facebook. The day and time you post could help you get noticed.

With half a billion people, including my grandmother, now using facebook, the question is, how does a business stand out in that crowd? It’s clearly a marketing juggernaut with prolific potential. How do you grab the attention of the facebook consumer before becoming a blip on your grandmother’s newsfeed?

Easy. Use one or all of these F-words. Facebook. Friday. First. Foto. (Ok, that’s a stretch, but think mnemonic device).

According to Vitrue, a social media management company, posting on certain days at certain times in certain ways will maximize your social media presence. They studied 32,000 posts for a period of three months. That represents over 42 million facebook fans.

According to Vitrue’s new study,

  • Posts with fotos get clicked on 22 percent more often than video posts, and 54 percent more often than text-only posts. (*Yes, I know it’s technically photos).
  • First thing in the morning- Posts published before noon get clicked on 65 percent more often than those published later.
  • Posts published on Friday do best; Saturday and Sundays are the worst.

The average person spends about 55 minutes a day on facebook.  Make the most of those minutes: remember your F-words.

Facebook is really powerful nowadays. Even mentioning its name to a particular site can easily grab someone's attention.
